This November, kick starts the County’s seasonal celebrations, with a promotional drive to encourage people to come into the town centre and to shop locally in the lead-up to Christmas. The Switching on of the Christmas Lights officially marks the start of the countdown to Christmas in Tullamore. Tullamore Lights have confirmed that The Switch on will take place at approximately 6:00pm on Sunday 27th November 2022. This year the popular Christmas Markets return with 20 stalls across O’Connor Square, selling food, drink and a stockingful of crafts and seasonal gifts. The markets are a must-visit attraction for visitors to the town and locals alike – guaranteed to get them in the Christmas spirit. The markets will run over a three day period: Friday 25th November: 3pm – 7pm Saturday 26th November: 11am – 7:30pm Sunday 27th November: 11am – 7:30pm This year is set to be magical with dazzling lights, breathtaking displays, exciting new experiences and yummy comfort food. Tullamore this Christmas offers a festive surprise with the arrival of The Santa’s Magic Bus to the town centre, offering families and kids the chance to meet and greet the big man onboard with each child receiving their very own gift! The Santa Magic Bus will begin operating on November 25th to Sunday 27th and tickets can be purchased on line through Eventbrite from Monday 21st November 2022 at 09:00am. The Midlands Science Discovery Day in association with Integra offers a chance to experience everything from dinosaurs to Ironman in one location! Suitable for age 5 and up, the day offers the chance for participants to meet reptiles up close and personal, learn about the science of Spiderman, stare up at the night’s sky in Ireland’s largest mobile planetarium, do hands on science with Anyone 4 Science and learn about dinosaurs with Dale Treadwell. The Discovery Day is one of the most popular events of the Midlands Science Festival and is open to everyone. Should any participants experience sensory issues in a crowded environment, please contact us directly and we will try to facilitate a visit to Discovery Day activities at a time that is quieter.
